Police investigate alleged LTTE-promoting content shared on social media

Sri Lanka Police says an investigation is underway into social media content allegedly promoting the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). A 24-year-old resident of Kilinochchi was arrested over songs performed at a musical event in Nawakkuli, Jaffna, and later shared online.
Police allege the recordings were edited to include content supporting the banned organisation. The suspect was remanded until 17 June by the Chavakachcheri Magistrate’s Court.
Police also rejected social media claims that songs had been banned at musical and entertainment events, describing the reports as false.
