Four killed, 19 injured in Chilaw bus accident
Four individuals have been killed while 19 others have been sustained injuries after a Colombo bound Vavuniya private bus veered off the road and collided with a transformer in Chilaw.
Police said the driver of the bus had failed to control the speeding bus and rammed onto to a roadside transformer at the Mahawewa junction at around 4.30 this morning.
The injured have been admitted to the Marawila Base hospital.
It is reported that police and the area residents have commenced an operation to remove the bus from the accident site and clear the rubble.
The Marawila Police is conducting further investigation.
