CCC emerge Premier League champs, Saracens SC runner-up
CCC emerged the Premier league champions while Saracens CC won the runners up at the Inter club Premier league cricket tournament which concluded on Sunday . CCC led by Ashan Priyanjan won this championship with fine team effort and it was very especial for them with after 13 years CCC managed to get this major title under the guidence of head coach Tharanga Dhammika the forer Nalandian opening bowler. Saracense CC also won the runners up for the first time in this Premier league tournament under the leadership of Milinda Siriwardena and the team coached by Sajeewa Weerakoon the former National leg spinner.
Tharanga Dhammmika said their achievement was very important as three National players Kusal Meddis, Lakshan Sandakan and Vishwa Fernando were not take part most of thematches due to National duty. Infact Sandakan and Meddis were not played a single game this time while Vishva Fernando, skipper Ashan Priyanjan and Mithun Bahnuwa were out of the few matches due to Sri Lanka ‘A’ matches during this season. But our players had good team commitment to get this success while club officials Shammi Silva and his officials gave fine support to get this remarkable victory .
Infact all rounders did superb job with . Wanidu Hasaranga was leading the way. Ron Chandraguptha, Madawa Warnapura , skipper Priyanjan and Mithun Banuka were among the runs while experienced Malinda Pushpakumara the leggie was leading the way to get wickets to struggle opponents most of the time. Pushpakumara was the highest wicket taker with 63 wickets once again said Tharanga Dhammika the head coach of CCC..
Meanwhile Oshada Fernando of Chilaw Mariance CC was the highest scorer 1181 with six centuries while Pathum Nissanka of NCC with 1088 with four centuries and Sachitra Serasinghe of Tamil Union and Piyamal Perera of Colts CC scored 1001 runs each were third and fourth places . NCC skipper Anjelo Perera 882 runs also created new recorded new record with scoring two double hundreds in both innings against SSC was the main highlight of this tournament.
Meanwhile Premier T-20 tournament will commence from 15th February and all the top club teams once again will battle for the championships.
