Tamil actress commits suicide after being abandoned by live-in partner

A small-time cinema and TV actress has committed suicide at Peravallur in Chennai after a break-up with her live-in partner.

According to reports, Mershila Jebarani alias Yashika has been doing bit roles in movies like Mannar Vagayara starring actor Vemal. She has also been acting in a few TV serials.

She was staying in a women’s hostel in Vadapalani when she came in touch with Aravind alias Mohan Babu of Perambur. The two decided to live together and moved to G K M Colony in Peravallur four months ago.

But three days ago, they are said to have had a difference of opinion, ending in Aravind returning to his home. This seems to have upset Yashika who decided to take her own life.

However, before committing suicide, she sent her mother a message on WhatsApp, urging her to ensure that Aravind was punished for abandoning her without marrying her.

The police reached the house on information and sent the body for post-mortem.
