Basil does not understand the truth as the President does-Wimal allies charge

It is an irony that the founder of the SLPP Basil Rajapaksa does not understand the timely need of the country as noted by President Maithripala Sirisena, that without a broad alliance the mandate of the people cannot be won, according to a web site operated by Wimal Weerawansa.

“If Basil Rajapaksa could understand matters the way President Sirisena does, we would be so lucky.” The web site quoted.

The President made this statement addressing the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Annual General Conference held at the New Town Hall on Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 07, as the Chief Guest.

Although Basil Rajapaksa had met with several parties regarding the formation of a broad coalition, he has so far not met with Wimal Weerawansa’s National Freedom Alliance and Udaya Gammanpila’s Pivithuru Hela Urumaya.
