Indian agencies intercept Jaish-e-Mohammad communication, hint at another terror attack

The agencies have alerted security forces about fresh intercepts strongly indicating that the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is planning another terror attack.

The threat of a vehicle-borne suicide bomber, like the one who attacked the CRPF convoy in Pulwama on February 14, is still looming large. In fact, Intelligence agencies have alerted security forces about fresh intercepts strongly indicating that the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is planning another such attack, this time in north Kashmir. According to an input received by Intelligence agencies, a tanzeem (module) of the Jaish active in Kashmir, is reportedly planning an attack using Improvised Explosive Device (IED) placed inside a vehicle. Referring to the Pulwama attack, the message intercepted by Intelligence agencies said that it was only a 200-kg 'khilona', and that a 500-kg blast is on the way.

The information is based on intercepts received through electronic surveillance and corroborated by sources in the 'tanzeem', the Intelligence report says. "The attack is being planned on convoys that are travelling on the Chowkibal and Tangdhar routes in (north Kashmir)," the report suggested. As per the inputs, a Scorpio is being readied by the module to carry out the attack. Intelligence agencies have also decoded a message on a closed group on social media linked to the JeM.

Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad had claimed the February 14 attack in Pulwama that killed 40 troops who were part of a convoy of 78 buses carrying over 2,000 soldiers. A fresh recruit, Adil Dar, from Pulwama's Kakpora village in South Kashmir, executed the suicide attack by ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into the bus. The Intelligence inputs warned of more attacks.
