Mannar skeletal remains belong to missing persons?

Mannar bishop Emmanuel Bernard believes the skeletal remains found from a mass grave in Mannar to belong to the persons who had gone missing during the war.

At a Christmas event, he said a prayer for the souls of those dead people at the grave at the Mannar CWE branch premises.

Speaking there, he urged authorities to correctly ascertain the owners of those skeletal remains.

It will be a relief for the relatives of missing persons to know that, said the Bishop.

He also asked the government to grant relief for the ‘political prisoners’ presently in remand custody.

Noting that the dark shadows of the war still remained, he stressed the need for speedy development of poor villages in Mannar, such as Kunjikulam.

He added that he was glad the country’s political crisis had somewhat ended democratically.
