India vs Australia: Virat Kohli as good as anyone I have seen, says pace great Dennis Lillee
India vs Australia: Legendary Australian pace bowler Dennis Lillee also likened India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to fellow Jeff Thomson, saying both of them were different from the rest but extremely effective.
Legendary Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee has heaped praise on Virat Kohli, saying the India captain has the technique and determination that makes his one of the greats of the game.
Lille, who gave nightmares to opposition batsmen, added Virat Kohli's ability to see the ball early and give himself that extra bit of time is as good as anyone.
Dennis Lillee's comments come days after Virat Kohli slammed his 25th Test century in the second of the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia in Perth. On a pace and bounce-rich wicket at the Perth Stadium, the right-hander made batting look easy while making 123 runs off 257 balls.
India though failed to win the Perth Test as skewed team selection and some ordinary batting performance in the second innings saw them fall short of the 287-run target by 146 runs.
"I think he is a great player, There is no need for me to even say because everyone knows that. What makes Virat great is first of all great technique, determination, balance and the time he has got to play the deliveries," Lille told Anandabazar Patrika.
The fast bowling great added: "He seems to see the ball early and all great batsmen have those four things. Technique, determination, balance and the ability to see the ball early. Virat is as good as anyone I have seen."
