Mobile phones linked to double murders found

The mobile phones of the two businessmen of Rathgama who were kidnapped and murdered have been found in a reservoir in Dickwella.

Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said the two mobile phones were found following information revealed upon questioning a Police Constable attached to the Southern Provincial Special Crimes Investigations Division.

The Criminal Investigations Department following investigations revealed that the two businesses were murdered at a residence in Akmeemana and their bodies burnt in a shrubbery area.

Officers attached to the Southern Province Special Investigation Unit are accused of the double murder while it was revealed the duo was kidnapped for questioning over the possession of illegal firearms.

The two businessmen of Rathgama were reportedly kidnapped on the 23rd of January.
