Stolen Rs.5 billion diamond found

The diamond believed to have been stolen from a residence in Arawwala, Pannipitiya, worth Rs.5 billion has been found in Keselwatte, Panadura.
The diamond's whereabouts were uncovered upon questioning Kelum Indika Sampath alias ;Keluma” who was arrested in Pitigala.
Police also seized Rs.1.50 million from the suspect’s residence.
A group impersonating Policemen dressed in civilian clothing, had entered the residence in Pannipitiya and had stolen the gems and diamonds, on the 5th of November last year.
Police received a complaint that a gem worth Rs.2 billion and diamonds worth Rs.5 billion had been stolen.
Investigations revealed that the theft was orchestrated by Makandure Madush, who is currently in the custody of the Dubai Police.
