Railway trade unions call off scheduled strike

Railway trade unions have decided to call off trade union action scheduled for midnight today.
Speaking to NewsRadio Secretary of Locomotive Engineering Operators’ Union Indika Dodangoda said the decision was reached following successful discussions held last evening with the Minister and State Minister of Transport and other relevant officials.
Dodangoda said authorities had agreed to the union’s demands pertaining to certain appointments and therefore trade unions had collectively decided to call off the strike.
