Animal fat marketed as Ghee sold in Colombo

The Consumer Affairs Authority says information has revealed a large scale racket in operation, falsely marketing animal fat as ghee.

The Authority said the bogus ghee was found to be sold in retail and wholesale shops in and around Colombo.

Investigations are underway to take legal action against the relevant store owners.

The Consumer Affairs Authority recently carried out a similar raid in Wattala, subsequently destroying the ghee discovered during the operation on court orders.
