Locomotive drivers, guards strike called off

The strike launched by locomotive drivers and guards has been called off.
Secretary to the Locomotive Engine Operators Union Indika Dodangoda said the strike was launched in opposition to the removal of a employees list at circuit bungalows for train drivers.
Dodangoda said however following discussions with the General Manager of Railways, who agreed to reintroduce the employees list and address other concerns with regard to the sites, trade unions decided to calls off the strike.
The Union stated therefore train services are now returning to normal, adding all services are likely to be fully normalised by this afternoon.
