Bamba accident: Defender driver remanded

The driver of the defender involved in the Bambalapitiya road accident, which resulted in the death of the Borella Traffic OIC, has been further remanded until the 18th of March.
The order was issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.
Meanwhile, the final rites of Borella Traffic OIC, Inspector of Police Ananda Sagara Sarathchandra, who succumbed to injuries following the road accident, will be held today.
The remains of the Policeman is currently placed at a private parlour in Borella. Police said the final rites of IP Sarathchandra will be held with full police honours.
IP Sarathchandra met with an accident in Bambalapitiya on the 24th of February while on duty.
The accident was reported when the motorbike IP Sagara Sarathchandra was travelling on, was rammed by a defender during early hours of the morning.
Seven suspects arrested over the incident, including the son Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage were released on bail..
