Delhi woman jumps on track to pick up Rs 2,000 note, comes under train

A woman had a narrow escape on Tuesday as she went under the metro train after her jump on the tracks to fetch a Rs 2,000 note at Dwarka Mor Metro Station.

Around 10.30am on Tuesday, as the woman jumped to pick up the note, few coaches of an approaching metro passed over her, Hindustan Times said, quoting officials.

The woman escaped unhurt as she remained still between the tracks.

After she was rescued, the Jharoda Kalan resident was taken to a hospital. She was also briefly detained by the CISF but was let go after she wrote an apology for disruption of services on the blue line of the Delhi Metro.

The services of the Blue Line, which connects Dwarka Sector 21 in Delhi to Noida Electronic City, were briefly affected, but soon restored to normal, officials said.

Last month, a commuter had jumped on tracks of the Red Line, leading to disruption of services between Shahdara and Dilshad Garden stations.

The person was identified as Zachariah Koshy, a resident of 51 Shalimar garden Main Ghaziabad.

Police had said that Koshy had accidentally fallen on the tracks. His right foot was severed in the incident.
