Govt to hold PC Polls on single day

Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardena, while assuming duties at his Ministry, stated that the United National Front (UNF) Government will look to stage the 2019 Provincial Councils Election for all Councils on a single day rather than holding the Poll on different dates.

Abeywardena stated than if the said Poll was to be held on different dates it could pave the way for the misuse of State power and the cost factor has also to be taken into account. He said that during the course of 2019, the UNF regime will also explore the possibility of conducting both the next Presidential and General Elections on the same day.
