Pollachi case: Women’s Commission releases 2 phone Nos. for complaints

The Tamilnadu Commission for Women has released two Chennai phone numbers for women who are victims of the Pollachi sexual assault scandal to lodge their complaints.

The numbers are 044-2855155, 044-28592750.

Apart from lodging complaints, women can also share their opinion and thoughts with them, says the commission.

In a related development, the Madras High Court refused to entertain a plea by women advocates for a court monitored CBI probe into the Pollachi sexual assault case.

The bench said as the government was recommending a CBI probe, it would not be possible to order a court monitored inquiry by the central investigation agency.

The Pollachi sexual assault scandal continues to cause ripples among college students.

A few colleges in Pollachi declared a holiday today to prevent students from launching protests. But there were protests in other parts of the State like Udumalpet and Thanjavur, involving women’s college students. The students were demanding strict punishment for the four accused of trapping young girls and taking videos of their sexual assault. They even uploaded the videos.
