After 11 months, Nirmala Devi comes out on bail
Nirmala Devi, the prime accused in audiotape scandal case, today, came out of Central Prison in Madurai on bail after 11 months of stay there.
Earlier, her advocate S Pasumpon Pandian said that all the conditions of the bail granted by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on 12 March were complied with. “Her brother Ravi and a family friend have given sureties. All documents required for the bail procedures have been submitted to the judicial magistrate court,” he said.
Pandian also complained that Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department sleuths had threatened the family and friends of Nirmala Devi against helping her to come out of jail on bail. All the three accused in the case were remanded in judicial custody in April 2018 after a case of human trafficking was registered against them when an audio clip of Nirmala Devi’s telephonic conversation with four college students went viral in social media.
