Senior Navy personnel knew of kidnap - CID

The Criminal Investigations Department has revealed in Court, that former senior Navy personnel including former Navy Commander Admiral Jayantha Perera and former Navy Intelligence Director, Rear Admiral Ananda Guruge, were aware of the kidnap and disappearance of two Tamil businessmen in Wellampitiya on the 11th of January 2009.

CID Officers informed the Fort Magistrates Court today that testimonies were being recorded from witnesses in the case, while investigations continued.

Meanwhile another Navy officer named as the second suspect in the case, Lieutenant Commander Sampath Dayananda has been further remanded until the 4th of April.
