SLFP-SLPP 2nd discussion ends successfully

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party says the second round of discussion on forming an alliance with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna concluded successfully.
Speaking to NewsRadio General Secretary of the SLFP Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara said the two parties agreed on 20 proposals during the talks.
The discussion got underway at the Office of the Opposition Leader and was attended by Chairman of the Podujana Peramuna Professor GL Peiris, and Podujana Peramuna members United People’s Freedom Alliance MP Dallas Alahapperuma and Jagath Wellawatte.
Meanwhile Parliamentarians Dayasiri Jayasekara, Thilanga Sumathipala and former General Secretary of the SLFP Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa represented the SLFP at the discussion.
When contacted by NewsRadio MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said the third round of talks will get underway on the 10th of April.
The Parliamentarian noted the discussion focused on several new political and economic policies adding the proposals agreed by the two parties will be tabled before respective Working Committees and party leaders in order to reach a final decision.
The MP stressed the SLFP and the SLPP will accordingly focus on securing the support of Provincial Councillors and Pradeshiya Sabha members of the two parties.
