Pollachi case: TNCC leader denies any link with accused

Tamilnadu Congress working president MayuraJayakumar appeared before the CB-CID probing the Pollachi sexual harassment case yesterday and gave a statement denying any link with the key accused.

Following claims by the main accused Thirunavukarasu that he was not in Pollachi on 12 February- the day when the 19-year-old woman was assaulted – and that he along with his father and some others had visited Jayakumar congratulated him over his elevation, the CB-CID issued summons to Jayakumar.

However, the Jayakumar submitted a written statement to the CB-CID that he had no link with Thirunavukarasu. The TNCC Working President said he was given the post on 2 February and since then a large number of party workers and supporters had been visiting him to extend their wishes.

The Pollachi sexual assault case was transferred to the CB-CID 12 March. It was later shifted to the CBI.
