Grade 5 scholarship to be discontinued?

President Maithripala Sirisena says the government has decided to discontinue the Grade Five scholarship examination.

Speaking during an event held in Polonnaruwa President Sirisena said the exam has not produced desired results and therefore the government has taken a decision to scrap the examination.

The Head of State noted the competition should not be to enter students into good schools but to improve the existing facilities adding it is the responsibility of the members of Provincial Councils and Parliament.
