Marriage gone sour, Delhi woman chops husband in 8 pieces, landlord finds buried hand

Residents of Delhi's Amrit Vihar were in for a shock when a landlord stumbled upon a human finger buried in his tenant's room. The finger led to a hand and soon it was found that the 63-year-old tenant who was missing for a few weeks, had been cut into 8 pieces and one of the pieces were buried by his wife in his own bedroom.

According to a report in TOI, Rajesh and his wife, 38-year-old Sunita had been getting into frequent fights and grew suspicious of each other. On February 14, Sunita sedated Rajesh, cut him off in 8 pieces, buried them in different areas and dumped the severed head in a drain. Over a month later when people had presumed Rajesh to have gone missing, his landlord stumbled upon an unusual patchwork on the floor. It soon led the police to recover all the body pieces after Sunita broke down during interrogation.

On Valentine's Day, Sunita decided to put an end to her problems and mixed sedatives in Rajesh's drink. She had been watching a lot of crime shows on TV and had prepared well.

She sent away her son to a neighbour's house on February 14 and asked him to return late. Once Rajesh fell asleep she stabbed him and chopped the body, packed them in different bags.

She dug up her floor and buried some portions of the torso there while took another bag packed with her husband's legs outside the house.

According to the report, two days later, Sunita filed a missing complaint and the neighbourhood was abuzz with talks of Rajesh's sudden disappearance. Police found a severed and mutilated head around the same time from a nearby drain, however, it didn't lead to anything.

It was only when Sunita's landlord saw the rough patchwork in the house last week that the gruesome crime came to the fore.

Sunita and Rajesh's marriage had gone sour for over a year and it worsened since January. Rajesh suspected her of having an affair with a younger man. She blamed him for her mother's mysterious disappearance when she came visiting a few months ago.

Now, Sunita has been sent to the Tihar jail in judicial custody while her son has been lodged in a children's home.
