Felicitation for P Susheela on 19 May
A grand event will be organised to felicitate legendary playback singer P Susheela by Veera Sekar of Laya Media on 19 May for completing 65 years in the industry.
To be held at University Centenary Auditorium, the event will see who’s who of Tamil film music come under one roof. Susheela will be felicitated for her contribution to Indian film music.
Susheela started her career in playback singing in 1953. She has been recognised by both the Guinness Book of World Records and the Asia Book of Records for singing most number of songs in Indian languages.
A recipient of five National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer and numerous State awards, she is widely acclaimed for her mellifluous rendition of over 50,000 film songs across South Indian languages. Susheela is also considered as one of the rich voiced singers whose pronunciation of the syllables to be more clear and precise in any of the languages she sang.
In a career spanning more than six decades, she has recorded songs in various languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Sanskrit, Tulu and Badaga. She has also sung for Sinhalese films.
