Mahinda’s indecisiveness lead to clash within SLPP!! – Gota’s clan in last fight!!

Although the Rajapaksa family has decided to nominate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as the common candidate for the next Presidential election, Mahinda Rajapaksa’s failure to officially announce the decision has led to a big clash within the SLPP, the Anidda newspaper reported.
Due to Mahinda’s swaying stance, one group within the group are claiming that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would be the presidential candidate while another group claims on political stages that Chamal Rajapaksa would be the common candidate.
According to a prominent member of the SLPP even though Mahinda Rajapaksa may not want to nominate Gotabhaya he is forced to do so. He accused Mahinda of following a swaying stance due to his dislike to nominate Gotabhaya.
Severe criticism by John!
Former Minister John Seneviratne said that due to Mahinda’s inability to name Gotabhaya as the selected candidate, a huge clash has erupted within the opposition.
Under these circumstances, the party members and the supporters are facing dire difficulty and said that it is the right time to openly name the correct presidential candidate.
However, Mahinda Rajapaksa said that once the UNP nominates their presidential candidate, he would reveal who the opposition candidate would be.
He said this during the meeting with media heads and editors on March 26.
“The UNP has yet no named their candidate and once they do so we will name our candidate,” he had said.
When Sri Lanka Mirror inquired from a senior SLFP member he said that Mahinda Rajapaksa had agreed to nominate Maithripala Sirisena as the next Presidential candidate.
He said that it was on that promise that Ranil Wickremesinghe was ousted from the post of Prime Minister and Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed instead.
Meanwhile, expressing his views to a Sunday newspaper, MP Duminda Dissanayake said that Mahinda Rajapaksa and the SLPP members had agreed to nominate Maithripala Sirisena for the Presidential candidacy without conditions.
He said therefore, Maithripala Sirisena should be the presidential candidate from the SLFP led UPFA.
''By hook or by crook we will get it''
When Sri Lanka Mirror inquired from a member of the ‘Eliya’ organisation about the delay in nominating Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as the presidential candidate, he said by hook or by crook they will obtain nomination for Gotabhaya.
The spokesman noted that in 2005 when Chandrika Bandaranaike was wavering in her decision on the presidential candidate, Mahinda Rajapaksa had succeeded in getting the nomination, adding that they would follow the same stance to have Gotabhaya Rajapaksa nominated.
If Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is nominated, he expressed belief that he would win the presidency with a huge mandate.
