SC confirms life sentence for Saravana Bhavan hotel owner
The Supreme Court has confirmed the life sentence handed down to hotel Saravana Bhavan owner Rajagopal in a murder case.
The Madras High Court had earlier sentenced Rajagopal and six others to life imprisonment for the murder of Santhakumar. The prosecution case was that Santhakumar, the husband of Jeeva Jothi, daughter of an employee of Saravana Bhavan was murdered by a gang of nine people at Kodaikanal at the behest of Rajagopal, who wanted to marry the girl.
The court found six of them, including Rajagopal, guilty of the crime and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The hotel owner went on appeal to the Supreme Court, which today rejected his plea and confirmed the Madras High Court sentence.
