10-year-old Jaswant from TN swims across Palk Strait

In a proud moment for Tamilnadu, a ten-year-old boy from the State swam across the Palk Strait from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi yesterday. 

Jaswant, who hails from Theni district, covered 32 km in ten hours and 30 minutes. At 4 am, he started swimming from the Urumalai sea coast by 9 am reached the International Maritime Border line and later reached Dhanushkodi at 2.30 pm.

The boy was monitored by the coast guard officials from the IMBL. According to media reports, while swimming, the boy survived on health drinks and water. Jaswant was welcomed and appreciated by DGP Shylendra Babu and Coast guard officials on completing the feat.
