Gota’s London meeting cancelled amidst protests

A public meeting scheduled to be held in London under the patronage of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has been cancelled.

The public meeting was organised at the Kingsbury School hall in Northwest London by the ‘Eliya’ Organisation in London.

As a protest against the speakers at this meeting had been planned, the Kingsbury high school spokesperson said that the meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 31 had been cancelled.

The names of Professor Medagoda Abhayatissa Thera, Mahinda Rajapaksa’s former Media Spokesman Mohan Samaranayake and Dr. Sita Arambepola’s names were also on the propaganda flyers.

The ‘Eliya’ organisers noted that another meeting is scheduled to be held in Paris on April 7th.

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who is facing charges of having constructed a monument for his late father D.A. Rajapaksa misappropriating Rs. 10 million, had left the country on March 27 having obtained special permission from the courts. He is expected to attend a wedding ceremony in Los Angelis.
