Coimbatore diocese conducts awareness on cyber crime against women
Coimbatore: An awareness and confidence-building event on cyber security and human rights was conducted by the CSI Coimbatore Diocese yesterday.
The event was held to urge the people to adopt zero-tolerance approach to prevent cyber violence against women and girls. About 400 people attended the event, said media reports.
Speaking at the event, the Bishop Timothy Ravinder said that there was cyber crime against women were on the rise and that no proper measures are being taken in this regard. He urged women to come out openly when faced with sexual harassment or abuse.
Inspector of Police Ruby of Gandhipuram special wing spoke at the event and asked women to download the app ‘kavalan.sos’ for any type of emergency. She said that the App would come in handy while going alone and the police help could be availed of within 10 minutes.
