Only trained teacher will be recruited in future

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the government will suspend the recruitment of teachers, who have not undergone training, through Provincial Councils.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the ‘Yowun Puraya’ programme Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said accordingly only trained teachers who holds diplomas will be in service at all schools after the next five years.

Premier Wickremesinghe said this year alone 10,000 teachers had graduated with diplomas from national colleges of education in the country.

The Premier added as a result only disciplined and trained teachers will be in the educational system.Prime Minister Wickremesinghe further noted that several hostels were constructed for university students while three new medical faculties and two engineering faculties were also established.

The Prime Minister stated that the government will also take steps to modernize vocational training.The Premier stressed that discipline is necessary in order to develop a country adding that several programmes have been launched in order to eradicate narcotics and establish discipline within the country and develop the economy and society.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe noted such goals cannot be achieved overnight adding however if the government continues the journey for another five to six years, Sri Lanka will become a developed nation.
