Income-Tax raids at VCK member’s real estate office in Tiruchi
Sleuths of the Income-Tax (I-T) Department carried out a raid in the real estate company owned by a member of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) today in Tiruchi.
As per reports, the raids took place at the real estate office at Mannarpuram and the company was run by VCK member Raja. It is not known why the raids took place and if anything was seized from the spot.
A few days ago, I-T sleuths raided the premises belonging to DMK treasurer Durai Murugan and seized Rs 10.50 lakh in Vellore.
Later, the officials found cash stuffed in cartons and gunny bags neatly packed for distribution division- and ward-wise. The cash was shifted from Kingston College, Vellore, to a cement godown, said sources.
However, the DMK maintained that the raids were politically motivated and approached the Madras High Court with a petition claiming the raids were disturbing the election campaign of the party candidate, Kadir Anand, Durai Murugan’s son.
