Why did the Sampath Bank top chairs change? Depositors suspicious

Professor Malith Kumar Ranasinghe has been appointed as the Chairman of Sampath Bank in accordance with a decision taken at a board meeting yesterday.

The CID is currently engaged in investigating the massive fraud targeting the bank depositor’s accounts. However, the depositors who had been defrauded have expressed suspicion regarding the change of the bank’s management at a time when the investigations are underway.

Until yesterday Channa Palansooriya had functioned as the Chairman of the bank. The investigations had commenced and the massive fraud was exposed based on a complaint lodged by renowned native physician Kelum Harsha Weerasinghe in which vital information regarding the fraud by Sampath Bank high ranking officers was exposed.

Accordingly, the Kaduwela Magistrate Prasanna Alwis has currently issued a court order to carry out a forensic audit immediately regarding the fraud concerning the millions of depositor’s money.
