Number of buses to decrease on 13th & 14th

Bus owners say the operation of private buses during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season will see a decrease.
Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne said fewer buses can be will be in operation tomorrow in comparison to today.
Wijeratne noted short distance bus drivers are due to leave for their home towns today adding therefore on the 14th of April a very limited number of buses will be available especially during the auspicious times.
He said the service is expected to return to normalcy by the 16th of April.
Chairman of the Inter Provincial Private Bus Owners Association Sarath Vijaya Kumara said the usual number of buses will not be deployed for service over the weekend. Buses will be available.
He claimed the Sri Lanka Transport Board has deployed an additional 800 buses that will be available during the festive season.
Meanwhile the All Island Private Bus Owners Federation claimed officials attached to the Transport Ministry have not held discussions with bus owners over the deployment of buses during the festive season.
