Carpeted road re-carpeted : Expense 120 million per kilometer

The authorities are making plans to re-carpet the 25 km stretch of carpeted road from Maradankadawala to Habarana, Sri Lanka Mirror learns. 

It is said that the estimated cost to re-carpet per kilometre is Rs. 120 million and the whole 25 km would cost a colossal Rs. 3,000 million or above.

While relatively lesser number of vehicles ply this road, it is said that there are many other roads in this area which is in far more dilapidated state.

The contract to re-carpet the already carpeted road has been given to The Consulting Engineers & Contractors (Pvt) Ltd.
