UNP Presidential candidacy fight: Ravi attacks Sajith!!

While speculation is rife about who the Presidential candidate from the UNP would be, the party’s Deputy Leader Ravi Karunanayake had aimed a ‘New Year attack’ on the party Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa.
Internal discussions are being held on whether the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinmghe or deputy leader Sajith Premadasa should contest. However, Ravi Karunanayake had targeted Sajith Premadasa saying that he cannot succeed by selling his parent’s names.
He noted that as the UNP has a set of policies they adhere to, Premadasa should act accordingly.
Karunanayake charged that even though certain persons are unable to even win his own constituency he is claiming to be able to win the whole country.
“Talk of another taking oath as PM, false”
“We are silent not due to weakness, but for the sake of maintaining unity. However, if anyone is trying to jump track, then we are ready to respond.”
He also said that the UNP is definitely not a party which forgoes its policies and changes its stance aiming an election.
“We don’t take on an extremist view and change even further after the election. This stability is our strength and this is what we invest in. Hence, we have commenced our drive to win the trust of the people. We believe that we will get the people’s support for our endeavour.”
Karunanayake refuted claims that another UNP member was to be appointed to the post of PM, adding that Ranil Wickremesinghe would continue to be the party’s leader.
The minister made this statement during a media briefing held in Batticaloa.
Meanwhile, the FB post by State Minister Ajith P. Perera has come under serious debate at present.
His post had posed the question as to who the UNP candidate that could win the next presidential election.
He had posted photos of PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and deputy UNP leader Sajith Premadasa and sought the views of the people. Currently, this post has received much attention.
