UK to assist Sri Lanka in power generation

The United Kingdom has agreed to assist in introducing a power generation method using waste material to help prevent power outages in future.
The Media Unit of the Ministry of Power and Energy said the UK High Commissioner to Sri Lanka James Dauris tabled facts pertaining to the proposal during a discussion held with subject Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The project is due to be introduced with the aim of moving to environmentally friendly power generation methods to meet the increased demand for power, at lower cost.
Speaking during the discussion Minister Karunanayake said the method will be beneficial not only as a solution to the power crisis but also to minimize concerns surrounding waste disposal.
Responding to Minister Karunanayake the UK High Commissioner said Sri Lanka focusing on power generation through the use of waste by utilizing UK technology will be highly beneficial.
Minister Karunanayake pledged to provide the government’s maximum support towards expediting the proposed project.
