No sufficient laws to ban NTJ- President

President Maithripala Sirisena says Sri Lanka does not have sufficient laws in place to ban the National Thowheed Jamath organisation.
The President made this statement in response to an inquiry raised by journalists on why the government is yet to ban the National Thowheed Jamat organisation during the Heads of Media gathering this morning.
The Head of State said even though attention was drawn to immediately banning the organisation from the 22nd of April it was determined that the country does not have sufficient laws.
The President noted accordingly the matter will be taken up for discussion with the Attorney General today.
President Sirisena stressed therefore new laws will be introduced to amend existing laws.
The President meanwhile commenting on the social media ban said even though the ban was previously scheduled to be lifted by today the decision had to be reconsidered due to the increase of the spread of false information yesterday.
The Head of State noted all concerns related to social media will be discussed during a meeting with representatives of social media organisations.
The President said a group of social media reps have arrived in the country with a meeting scheduled this evening.
Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Army said it has been confirmed that the main suspect of the Easter Sunday attack Zaharan Hashim was killed in the suicide bombing carried out at the Shangri-La hotel.
The Army said a DNA examination will be conducted to identify the suspects.
