Removal of social media blockade delayed

A discussion will take place today (26) between Sri Lankan IT authorities and heads of the social media who have arrived in Sri Lanka in line with the social media blockade.

This was revealed at the meeting between the President and media heads.

At the meeting, President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the removal of blocking of social media was to be done today (26), but the measure was delayed due to the lack of positive behavior in the social media.

The President also emphasized that if the social media are misused that could be blocked for a longer time.

Meanwhile, the President also said that discussions will also be held with the social media heads in regard to possibility of obtaining information of elements who misuse social media spaces.
