IPL 2019: CSK looks to end league phase at home with a win

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings who had an impressive run during the first half of the tournament, is now currently in a lean phase with three losses in their last five games.

Having faced a big loss against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their own den in the last match, the Super Kings would look to get back to winning ways when they face Delhi Capitals, Wednesday.

Delhi Capitals are currently placed on top of the table and it is a battle between the top two teams in which the one who emerges as the winner will consolidate their position on the top of the table.

With four wins in their last five games, Delhi Capitals is on an impressive winning streak, led by young Shreyas Iyer. Given that the franchise finally entered the playoffs after missing out on a top four finish for the last six seasons will serve as a big boost for the team and they will look to play well against the formidable CSK. The pitch at Delhi this season was slow and Delhi can expect similar conditions at Chepauk.

Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are in a good touch with the bat so far and it will be a good contest between them and the CSK bowlers.

One good news for CSK is the return of Jadeja for training as he along with skipper Dhoni missed the last game due to a viral fever. However, MS Dhoni has still not returned back to practice and CSK will hope that their skipper returns to lead the side in the important clash.

Delhi Capitals also have a good bowling line up with the league’s leading wicket-keeper Kagiso Rabada, leading the attack along with Ishant Sharma and spinners Amit Mishra and Akshar Patel and Nepalese teenager Sandeep Lamichhane.

It will be a good challenge for the CSK batters to cope with them. In the last game against Mumbai none of the batsmen fared well against Mumbai Indians as only three batsmen – Murali Vijay, Dwayne Bravo and Mitchell Santner – managed a double-digit score. The batsmen will look to get their act together against Delhi Capitals.
