Agni Nakshatram begins 4 May in Tamilnadu – to last 25 days
The dog days of May are arriving! According to reports, Agni Nakshatram – kathiri veyil – begins 4 May and the mercury is said to rise higher.
Agni Nakshatram will last till 29 May – that is we will be roasted in the hot sun for 25 days.
Very severe cyclonic storm Fani, that is set to hit the Odisha coast tomorrow evening, is likely to suck out the moisture in the air, leading to further rise in temperature, explains the Met department.
Temperatures in different parts of Tamilnadu have already touched 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and in some places, it has gone up to 103 degrees F.
With Fani breaking into the scene, temperatures are likely to rise by 3 degrees F above normal, says the Met office.
Thunderstorm hit several parts of Madurai district like Thirumangalam, Thiruparankundram and Usilampatti, bringing down the temperature. There was waterlogging along the roads, leading to traffic jams, say reports.
There was heavy rain in Salem district in the surrounding areas of Vazhapadi, Mettur, Tharamangalam and Jalakandapuram. Rain accompanied by lightning and thunder brought down the heat in Kanyakumari district in Colachel, Thuckalay and Thingalsandai.
