Children of ministers and defense heads were not present in schools

The Secretary of the Lanka Teachers Association, Joseph Stalling, told 'Sri Lanka Mirror' that the children of ministers, parliamentarians, politicians, education heads and security officers have not been present in schools.

"How can parents guarantee that their children will be provided enough security in schools in such a situation?", He asked.

Nearly 4,000 children are studying in Defense Services College at Slave Island, Colombo and only 40 have attended the school yesterday (06) and today (07), the number dropped to 25, he said.

"If the children of those serving in the security services are not going to school, they also show that they also do not believe in the security situation in schools," he said.

Only 35 children were present at the Thurstan College in Colombo yesterday but had around 100 parents for the safety.

When the Cardinal issued a communiqué stating that the Catholic schools will not to be started, the Minister of Education did not pay enough attention on it.
