‘Viswasam’ trailer loaded with punchlines targeting ‘Petta’

Days after the trailer of Rajinikanth’s Petta was out with punchlines, came the trailer of Ajith’s Viswasam Sunday. With both movies clashing at the box office for Pongal, there is an intense war of words between fans of both actors on social media. To add spice to it was Viswasam’s trailer.

At the end of Petta trailer, Rajinikanth says, “Anyone here worried about his wife, children and stuff run away. I am in a rage. I will definitely kill you.”

The Viswasam trailer, which is setting the Internet on fire, ended with Ajith’s dialogue, “The name is Thooku Durai. From Theni district. Wife’s name is Niranjana. Daughter’s name is Swetha. I dare you for a one-on-one.”

Fans were quick to note the subtle fight between the two films, which are releasing for Pongal 2019. Many took to Twitter to share two scenes from the trailers of the films. Industry sources say that there is an intense war between the films to get theatres for Pongal.

Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, features Trisha, Simran, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bobby Simha in lead roles. Music is by Anirudh Ravichander.

Viswasam stars Nayanthara as heroine. Jagapathy Babu is the baddie. Music is by Imman. The movie brings together Ajith and Siruthai Siva for a record fourth time after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam.
