Chinese jeeps for the police

China has agreed to provide 10 police jeeps to the Sri Lankan Government in order to strengthen security.
The ceremony to hand over the 10 jeeps was held at the Presidential Secretariat on May 06th.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, while Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan handed over the keys of the jeeps officially.
Thereafter, the President and Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan inspected the jeeps.
President Sirisena thanked China for always being ready to assist Sri Lanka at a time of need.
He said the jeeps will help boost security and safety for the people and would be an asset to the police.
Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan assured that China is always there to assist the Sri Lankan Government and its people and to strengthen security and stability in the country.
He expressed hope that these vehicles would further strengthen the ties between the two countries and would ensure common victories for the people of both countries.
In addition, he noted that over the past few years the China-Sri Lanka cooperation had increased and the law enforcement cooperation had also developed strongly.
He said through the investigations, arresting of suspects, exchanging prisoners etc the two countries have cooperated with each other and gained positive results over the years.
