Dhanush completes 17 years as an actor
Dhanush who began his journey in the film world with ‘ThulluvadhoIlamai’, which was directed by his elder brother Selvaraghavan, completed 17 years in the industry yesterday.
Since then it has been a roller-coaster of a career, said the national award winning actor reminiscing about his journey, which has been filled with varied roles.
“Thulluvadho Ilamai released on May 10, 2002, the day that would change my life forever. Has it really been 17 years,” he said in a statement.
“It feels like yesterday that you (fans) opened your hearts to the clueless young boy who didn’t even know if he had it in him to become an actor, let alone a star,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to his fans and people who had faith in him and standing by him through his difficult times, be it hits and flops, success and failures.
He further stated that even though he was not a perfect person, his fans’ unconditional faith drove him to push himself harder.
Dhanush has even crooned for several movies one of them being the popular ‘Why this kola veri di‘ song. The versatile artiste bagged the Best Actor award for ‘Aadukalam.’ In the movie he played the role of a rustic youth who breeds roosters for cockfights. He has also acted in Hindi films Raanjhana and Shamitabh alongside Amitab Bachchan.
He gradually stepped into production with his Wunderbar Films, which has produced ‘Kaala’ starring his father-in-law superstar Rajinikanth. He became a director with ‘Pa Paandi’ starring Rajkiran.
