Changwon Shotgun World Cup: Indians fail to qualify for skeet final

Indians failed to qualify for the men's skeet final at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Changwon on Saturday.

There were high expectations from Sheeraz Sheikh to qualify after the Indian registered perfect scores of 25 and 25 in the first two rounds of qualification on Friday.

He,  however, faltered on the second day of qualification with scores of 21, 24 and 24 in the last three rounds to finish with 119/125. The cumulative score put him at 33rd place in the rankings.

Mairah Ahmad Khan was the best placed Indian at 11th with a score of 121/125. He had rounds of 24, 25 and 23 on the second day of qualification. Vincent Hancock and Christian Elliott took the top two spots in the qualification with a score of 123. He finished 11th in the qualification charts.

India is yet to secure a single Olympic quota in the Shotgun events — trap and skeet. India has so far earned five Olympic quota places and all of them have come in rifle and pistol categories. 

The trap qualifications begin on Tuesday for women and Wednesday for men.
