A journalist arrested with CDs

A 58-year-old journalist who was working at a Muslim electronic media channel has been arrested with 326 CDs that were hidden in a house at Udaya Mawatha in Anuradhapura yesterday (12).

He was arrested at a search operation conducted by the Army and the Police and he is to be produced before court today (13).

Anuradhapura Police are conducting further investigations.

A threatening letter to Vavuniya General Hospital

A letter has been received from the extremists that a bomb attack will be carried out at the Vavuniya hospital, while the security of the hospital has intensified and extensive search operations have been expanded around the area.

It is reported that the threatening letter written to the Medical Superintendent of the Vavuniya Hospital has been given to a hospital cafeteria.

Although it is not verified letter, the security sections have taken steps to beef up security.
