Tense weather expected in several areas!

The Department of Meteorology informed showers or thundershowers are likely to occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts. 

The department further said that showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2 pm in the evening. 

Meanwhile, coastal communities are informed to be vigilant amid the prevailing weather condition. Showers or thundershowers can occur at several places in the sea line extending from Colombo to Trincomalee, via Galle and Batticaloa. 

The department further informed that winds will be South-Westerly and speed around 25-35 kmph in the sea line throughout the country. 

The wind speed may increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the coastal line extending from Puttalam to Kankasantuwai, via Mannar, and the line extending from Matara to Batticaloa, via Hambantota.

Coastal areas of deep and shallow waters extending from Matara to Batticaloa via Hambantota may be rough at times, the department warned.
