SLPP Councillor among Easter attacks suspects

Mohammed Rizwan, arrested in Wattala over charges of maintaining links with the suspects who carried out the Easter Sunday attacks has been identified as a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.

Investigations revealed the individual who contested the Local Authorities Election under the SLPP ticket last year for the Mabola, Wattala Urban Council had been working as a Councillor following his victory.

The suspect was arrested by Officers attached to the Western Province Intelligence Unit in Mabola, Wattala on Wednesday.

Police said the suspect is currently being held for questioning.
