Price hike in 60 pharmaceutical drugs

The prices of 60 pharmaceutical drugs have been increased by a special gazette issued by Minister of Health Dr Rajitha Senaratne.
The ministry noted that the decision was taken due to a request made by a number of companies owing to the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar.
The price hike of drugs amounts to 14.4%. This will lead to an increase in the price of several essential drugs including Albendazole, Amoxicillin, Paracetamol and Cefuroxime.
All these drugs were decreased previously under a price control.
