Southern rebellion to oust Ranil!

The Colombo Mayor Rosie Senanayake has requested the UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to immediately initiate disciplinary action against the Chairman of the Weligama Urban Council Rehan de Jayawickrama who had written to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe asking him to step down as the leader of the UNP. He had said that it is a vital need at this point for a change in the party leadership which has to be done to ensure the victory of the party and its supporters.

In her letter, Rosie Senanayake has accused the UC Chairman of trying to create discord between Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa and had stated that the UNP is not a party that is manipulated by one family.

She had noted that the an election candidate is chosen by the selection committee on the recommendations of the party’s working committee and not according to the whims and fancy of any individual.
